East Bradford Cycling Club is a Clubmark British Cycling Go Ride Club. We provide a programme of activities and Go Ride coaching sessions aimed at young riders up to the age of 18 years. We also have a thriving adult membership.

Clubmark accreditation recognises that the club observes best practice in child protection, coaching and competition, equity and club management. For parents or young cyclists, it provides confidence to know that our Go-Ride Club is safe, well-managed and an exciting place to be. We were one of the first Go Ride Clubs to achieve Clubmark status in the country and have successfully re-accreditied every time. All our coaches have enhanced DBS status and are First Aid trained.

The youth section is by far the biggest section of the club with multiple opportunities for young riders from 3 to 18. Please see below for what the club can offer your child.

We will also continue with tuck shop each week.

Ages range from approx two to sixteen. Sessions cost £6 (first week free). After the first week we ask you to pay an annual membership which is £5 for children. Children are welcome on any bike including stabilisers and balance bikes. Please bring your own bike and helmets must be worn at all times during the sessions.

There are some bikes available to borrow.

We also run additional sessions in Winter on Monday nights for road race training.

Running most Saturday mornings all year round from 10:00-12.00, with a short break part way through, we can offer something for all. There are two main options on a Saturday, the Skills Group and the Roadie Group. Anyone can join in the Skills group straight away but in order to take part in the Roadies Group, children must first pass their Bronze + Skills Test. Once passed, children can move freely from skills to roadies and vice versa. Roadies is not a progressions from skills, just a choice for children to take part in depending on what they enjoy.

Wood Week – MTB Skills

We have a rolling programme of activities to keep the children engaged and these range from Skills awards from Bronze to Gold to  Time Trials/Competitions to Wood Skills (Wood skills are where we bring out planks, ramps and cycling see saws etc to develop off road skills). Each week the children all have the opportunity to ride on the cycle circuit.

MANDYS MONDAYS

file-11-02-2017-16-06-28In Winter there are weekly road sessions via Mandys Mondays (Run by East Bradford CC by Mandy Parker, Level 2 Road and Time trial Coach) for 10 to 18 year olds. These are designed to develop Winter fitness and racing skills. (They sit at a Level above Saturday morning but below the Club Cluster of training, held on a Wednesday Night for Under 14 and U16 Riders racing road and cross etc). A great intermediate session for riders wanting to develop and progress racing skills or winter fitness. It is attended by riders from all the surrounding clubs and provides a great way of getting to know other riders from outside EBCC.

COMPETITIONS

Our Youth riders compete in a wide range of competitions covering disciplines such as Road, Cyclo-Cross, Mountain Bike, Time Trials, Track and Grass Track. They range from those just wanting to have fun on a bike, to those who take it seriously with the intention of making cycling their career. Many of our older riders race regionally and nationally. We have an outstanding reputation as a development club, preparing riders to take the next step in their careers to move on to professional teams. Our riders have represented Yorkshire and Great Britain and one of them has gone on to represent GB at the Rio Olympics. For more information, check our the Discipline and Events Sections using the drop down box to select the specific menu.
