East Bradford Cycling Club is a Clubmark British Cycling Go Ride Club. We provide a programme of activities and Go Ride coaching sessions aimed at young riders up to the age of 18 years. We also have a thriving adult membership.

Clubmark accreditation recognises that the club observes best practice in child protection, coaching and competition, equity and club management. For parents or young cyclists, it provides confidence to know that our Go-Ride Club is safe, well-managed and an exciting place to be. We were one of the first Go Ride Clubs to achieve Clubmark status in the country and have successfully re-accreditied every time. All our coaches have enhanced DBS status and are First Aid trained.

The youth section is by far the biggest section of the club with multiple opportunities for young riders from 3 to 18. Please see below for what the club can offer your child.

The main sessions for young riders are at the Richard Dunn Sports Centre in Bradford on a Saturday 10.30 until 12.30-13.00, partly on our all weather pitches for skills and also on our custom built traffic free 800m road circuit. Ages range from approx three to sixteen. Sessions cost £5 for your first visit which includes membership and signing on opens at 10.15am. Then each week thereafter, it is £3.50 for the first child and £2.50 for each sibling. Prices vary for the evening sessions but generally range from £2.50 to £3. Children are welcome on any bike including stabilisers and balance bikes. Please bring your own bike and helmets must be worn at all times during the sessions. There are a limited number of bikes available to borrow on a first come, first served basis.

Please check the website Posts or Facebook for updates on sessions as we post any cancellations or alterations to sessions on there. Our Facebook group is a closed group to protect our young memebers so you need to ask to join before you can see posts. Our facebook Group can be found HERE. Posts can be found on the Latest News Section on the right hand side of the Home Page.

The weather can be quite cold at Richard Dunn, especially in Winter so please ensure you have suitable clothing for the weather conditions. Gloves and warm clothing are essential in colder weather.2014-03-22-11-29-09

Running most Saturday mornings all year round from 10:30 am to approx 12.30 , with a short break part way through, we can offer something for all. There are two main options on a Saturday, the Skills Group and the Roadie Group. Anyone can join in the Skills group straight away but in order to take part in the Roadies Group, children must first pass their Bronze + Skills Test. Once passed, children can move freely from skills to roadies and vice versa. Roadies is not a progressions from skills, just a choice for children to take part in depending on what they enjoy.

Skills Group

Wood Week – MTB Skills

We have a rolling programme of activities to keep the children engaged and these range from Skills awards from Bronze to Gold to  Time Trials/Competitions to Wood Skills (Wood skills are where we bring out planks, ramps and cycling see saws etc to develop off road skills). Each week the children all have the opportunity to ride on the cycle circuit.

Roadie Group

Roadie Skills

Weekly Road racing skills for children who have passed the club’s Bronze Plus Skills test. Run each week on the cycle circuit, these include group riding, sprinting, cornering and bike handling skills.

7pm until 9pm September to End of April each winter. This is an excellent winter training session but is also very social.  Suitable for children aged 8  up and adults. We also run fortnightly social rides to include children above 10 years of age but if 10 years to 15 years old, they must be accompanied by an adult. No one is left behind. In addition there are weekly cyclo-cross/mtb training sessions  on Friday evenings. Held through most of the year from 6,45 until 8.30pm, our two British Cycling Cyclo-Cross Coaches deliver a mixture of skills and cyclo-cross fitness sessions on Friday evenings. Children and adults are welcome although we recommend 6 years and up, especially in Winter when it is very cold. file-11-02-2017-16-06-28In Winter there are weekly road sessions via Mandys Mondays (Run by East Bradford CC by Mandy Parker, Level 2 Road and Time trial Coach) for 11 to 18 year olds. These are designed to develop Winter fitness and racing skills. (They sit at a Level above Saturday morning but below the Club Cluster of training, held on a Wednesday Night for Under 14 and U16 Riders racing road and cross etc). A great intermediate session for riders wanting to develop and progress racing skills or winter fitness. It is attended by riders from all the surrounding clubs and provides a great way of getting to know other riders from outside EBCC.

Our Youth riders compete in a wide range of competitions covering disciplines such as Road, Cyclo-Cross, Mountain Bike, Time Trials, Track and Grass Track. They range from those just wanting to have fun on a bike, to those who take it seriously with the intention of making cycling their career. Many of our older riders race regionally and nationally. We have an outstanding reputation as a development club, preparing riders to take the next step in their careers to move on to professional teams. Our riders have represented Yorkshire and Great Britain and one of them has gone on to represent GB at the Rio Olympics. The Youth Development Squad have access to bespoke one to one training plans and additional sessions. For more information, check our the Discipline and Events Sections using the drop down box to select the specific menu.
